“Culture Matters”

If you hang around me for any period of time, you will know that I am a diehard Clemson Tiger fan.  Head coach Dabo Swinney has accomplished amazing things with the young men he has recruited.  If you asked him why, he would tell you that it is an outcome of the culture that you create. He sets high expectations for his players and then makes it possible for them to achieve by creating a team culture that is healthy and supportive.  Here are a few of Dabo’s 21 ways to be a great teammate:

“Remember WD>WS (well done is better than well said)”

“Share positive contagious energy.”

“Hold yourself and your team accountable.”

“Practice selfless compassion.”

“Treat everyone with respect and expect everyone to do the same.”

The results of their efforts cannot be denied.  They are now the current National Champions in NCAA football.  I believe any team or organization can accomplish similar feats with the right culture.  That is why the newest “culture making” quote on my door is from Dabo Swinney, and I believe that we can create a culture of excellence if we will practice what it says.
