Thomas Academy to welcome J. Scott Johnson as graduation speaker

J. Scott JohnsonLake Waccamaw, NC – Carolinas District Key Club Administrator J. Scott Johnson will serve as the featured speaker during the 2019 Thomas Academy Graduation Ceremony set for 10 a.m. on June 8 in the Catherine V. Powell Educational Center Gymnasium.

The public is welcome to attend this celebration of the 16 graduates representing the Thomas Academy Class of 2019.

“This class has achieved so much in their time with us,” said Vice President for Education Dr. Tom Simmons. “I am so grateful that Mr. Johnson will be with us to celebrate those accomplishments.”

First introduced to the Kiwanis organization in 1979 when he joined the Key Club at J.H. Rose High School in Greenville, Johnson has been involved with the Kiwanis family ever since. In 1997 he was selected by the Key Club International Board to receive the Key of Honor, the highest level of recognition given by the Key Club organization.

Professionally, Johnson has held a variety of management and administration positions. In 1998, he formed 4 C’s Group, Inc., a consulting, management and leadership organization that provides services in leadership development, event management and logo apparel. Since then, he has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. providing event management, keynote addresses and leadership seminars. In 2005, he also became a facilitator for the Kiwanis program Key Leader, and has facilitated over 40 programs in the U.S., Canada, and Cayman Islands.

Johnson continued his service by becoming the Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Pitt County in 2016. 

The graduation ceremony will also include senior remembrances, scholarship presentations, challenges for the classes of 2019 and 2020, and the awarding of diplomas.
