Annual B&GH Christmas Open House to feature Welcome to Bethlehem!

November 15, 2018

Lake Waccamaw, NC – The 2018 Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina Christmas Open House will feature a presentation of Welcome to Bethlehem!, a dramatic Christmas musical performed by Ocean View Baptist Church.

“We are delighted to bring this event not only to our children, but to the entire community,” said B&GH President Gary Faircloth. “It is such a wonderful experience for all involved.”

This special performance will take place Sunday, Dec. 2, from 3 – 5 p.m. in the Leamon E. Rogers Memorial Chapel. A light reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Admission is free and all are welcome. No reservations are needed.

“The enthusiasm our friends from Ocean Isle have in bringing this event to our community is awe-inspiring,” said Rev. Joseph Kennedy, director of pastoral care for B&GH. “Some of these talented individuals have performed professionally in New York City and across the United States. Most importantly, they have a heart for the Lord and are great supporters of B&GH.”

Distributed by Word Music and Church Resources, Welcome to Bethlehem! was created by the award winning creative team of Joel Lindsey, Jeff Bumgardner, and Heidi Petak. The music is arranged and orchestrated by Daniel Semsen.

According to the Word Music website description, this new dramatic Christmas musical, “brings you a fresh new heart-touching story that can’t help but resonate with everyone who hears it. Christmas is a time for joy and bringing hope to a hurting world – which is exactly what the Bethlehem Inn does every day of the holiday season for its guests!”

Set in Bethlehem, Pa., the story focuses on the hospitable inn’s owners, Mr. and Mrs. Wiseman, their friendly staff and the guests.

“Throughout this musical, the theme of hope shines through during the different real-life circumstances faced by various characters,” the description continues. “From a couple struggling financially to keep their hotel running, to a teenage runaway needing help when she finds herself homeless, Welcome to Bethlehem will inspire and stir the hearts of every cast member and audience to remember ‘when it seems you just can’t go on, there’s always hope.’”

This dramatic musical was created for churches with a passion for bringing the worlds of music ministry and musical theater together in an innovative setting.

“We warmly invite anyone with an interest in being entertained on a Sunday afternoon while receiving a holiday message to join us for this free event,” said Kennedy. “It will be an inspiring experience.”
