Performance of Welcome to Bethlehem

Lake Waccamaw, NC – “We are so grateful to have our friends from Ocean View Baptist Church come back to bless us with their time and talent. It is such a wonderful experience for all involved.”

Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina President Gary Faircloth shared these thoughts during his welcome to all attending the 2018 Christmas Open House Sunday, Dec. 2 in the Leamon E. Rogers Memorial Chapel.

The featured dramatic Christmas musical, Welcome to Bethlehem!, highlighted the talents of the performers while sharing the story of families gathered at the Bethlehem Inn for Christmas.

The musical focuses on the inn’s owners, Mr. and Mrs. Wiseman, their staff and guests. As the Wisemans struggle with finances to keep their inn running, a teenage runaway finds herself struggling with homelessness and a family works through the emotions of celebrating their first Christmas away without their daughter.

Welcome to Bethlehem! encourages us to remember a timeless truth, ‘when it seems you just can’t go on, there’s always hope’,” said Musical Director Larry Melton. “Jesus came to bring hope to all who believe in him.”

Distributed by Word Music and Church Resources, Welcome to Bethlehem! was created by the award winning creative team of Joel Lindsey, Jeff Bumgardner, and Heidi Petak. The music is arranged and orchestrated by Daniel Semsen.

“The enthusiasm our friends from Ocean Isle have in bringing this event to our community is awe-inspiring,” said Rev. Joseph Kennedy, director of pastoral care for B&GH. “Some of these talented individuals have performed professionally in New York City and across the United States. Most importantly, they have a heart for the Lord and are great supporters of B&GH.”
