Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets quote by Dr SeussThis quote by Dr. Seuss highlights the importance of compassion, one of the three characteristics emphasized in our Thomas Academy motto.

Compassion is something I have seen in action several times already this school year, particularly as students are returning to the classroom after Hurricane Florence. Several of our community students lost everything in the storm, yet they returned to the classroom wanting to learn. Our B&GH residential students along with those community students who faired better in the storm have repeatedly demonstrated compassion by sharing notes, bringing in extra supplies, and making sure that their classmates are able to complete the work before them.

I see the same things happening among our teachers. They have been helping each other, providing support in and out of the classroom for those who received more storm damage.

I am so grateful to be able to say that compassion at Thomas Academy is more than just a word in the motto. It is something we see in action every day!
