This scholarship is being created to support a full year of tuition for a student in the vocational certification fields of study in memory of Roberto Diaz Rivera who tragically lost his life shortly after completing his welding certification.
Roberto came to Boys and Girls Homes with a dream of working in welding as a vocation. He worked tirelessly during his time at B&GH in pursuit of that goal. He worked in the campus shop and began his welding certification while at B&GH. He completed that certification after leaving the Homes and was about to start a job in the field at the time of his death.

This scholarship will allow students to pursue the trades as a tribute to Roberto's commitment to the future.
